There's other animals on that picture: [Diplosoma spongiforme - Jelly-synascidian](Diplosoma%20spongiforme%20-%20Jelly-synascidian.md) on the bottom ; [Spongia officinalis - Greek bathing sponge](Spongia%20officinalis%20-%20Greek%20bathing%20sponge.md) on the far right. I can't identify what's in the middle, but it just seems to be rock colonized by a vegetal that give it this green shade, or just the way I lighted my picture. I don't think it's any animal here.* ## Notes It's not clear wether or not the species of mediterranean sea is a different one than H. columella. We can sometimes see H. mediterranean. It's a specialist affair: [Peer Review #1 of "Molecular phylogenies confirm the presence of two cryptic Hemimycale species in the Mediterranean and reveal the polyphyly of the genera Crella and Hemimycale (Demospongiae: Poecilosclerida) (v0.1)"](https://peerj.com/articles/2958v0.1/reviews/1/) ## References - https://doris.ffessm.fr/Especes/Hemimycale-columella-Eponge-a-crateres-345 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemimycale_columella - [Découvrir la vie sous-marine - Méditerranée - Steven Weinberg](Découvrir%20la%20vie%20sous-marine%20-%20Méditerranée%20-%20Steven%20Weinberg.md) p132-133
