The individuals that constitute the colony are called zoids. They share the exhaling siphons, which are the biggers holes. The regular holes are all inhaling siphons, tied to one zoid.* ![https://res.cloudinary.com/dt3d6t2ay/image/upload/v1693085652/obsidian/2023-05-13%20Epidaure%20APSAP/Ascidiacea/Synacidiacae/P5160220_n59tje.jpg](https://res.cloudinary.com/dt3d6t2ay/image/upload/v1693085652/obsidian/2023-05-13%20Epidaure%20APSAP/Ascidiacea/Synacidiacae/P5160220_n59tje.jpg) *[126 - 2023-05-16 - Delta - Epidaurus - Greece](126%20-%202023-05-16%20-%20Delta%20-%20Epidaurus%20-%20Greece.md) - We better see the bigger holes, the shared exhaling siphons. It's interesting to see a sponge on the top ([Hemimycale columella - Honeycomb sponge](Hemimycale%20columella%20-%20Honeycomb%20sponge.md)), it reminds us how closely looking synacidiae are from sponges. But here, no confusion, there's no sponges that are that translucid. That translucid aspect looks just like [Clavelina dellavallei - Bluestriped light bulb tunicate](Clavelina%20dellavallei%20-%20Bluestriped%20light%20bulb%20tunicate.md), solitary ascidiacea.* ![https://res.cloudinary.com/dt3d6t2ay/image/upload/v1698270180/obsidian/Mediterran%C3%A9e/2023-07-30%20-%20Pointe%20de%20Seneyrolles%20w%20Jennifer/P7300169_iqu14p.jpg](https://res.cloudinary.com/dt3d6t2ay/image/upload/v1698270180/obsidian/Mediterran%C3%A9e/2023-07-30%20-%20Pointe%20de%20Seneyrolles%20w%20Jennifer/P7300169_iqu14p.jpg) *[137 - 2023-07-30 - Pointe de Seneyrolles - La Ciotat - France](137%20-%202023-07-30%20-%20Pointe%20de%20Seneyrolles%20-%20La%20Ciotat%20-%20France.md) - I'm really impressed by this picture. We can see so much things in just one frame and it witnesses how hard it is for animals to find a place on the substrate to keep living. There's D. spongiforme, on a [Pentapora fascialis - Rose coral](Pentapora%20fascialis%20-%20Rose%20coral.md), on a [Eunicella cavolini - Yellow gorgonian](Eunicella%20cavolini%20-%20Yellow%20gorgonian.md), on a [Crambe crambe - Orange-red encrusting sponge](Crambe%20crambe%20-%20Orange-red%20encrusting%20sponge.md), with a [Halocynthia papillosa - Red seasquirt](Halocynthia%20papillosa%20-%20Red%20seasquirt.md) and some [Parazoanthus axinellae - Yellow encrusting anemone](Parazoanthus%20axinellae%20-%20Yellow%20encrusting%20anemone.md) on the [Lithophyllum spp. - Stone-leaf](Lithophyllum%20spp.%20-%20Stone-leaf.md) background.
