ARM is in first the name of [the company ARM](https://www.arm.com/), founded by Acorn Computers and Apple Computers in 1990 lastly acquired by Nvidia (09/2020) for $40 billions. It is mostly known for their ARM architecture, wich is a famimly of architectures for computer processors. This architecture is used to design products like systems-on-chips (SoC) and systems-on-modules (SoM) that incorpore in one single chip all of the components needed for a computer. Because of its conception, ARM is more efficient in terms of power than x86 architecture. Thus its wide range of use in portable devices such as [IoT](IoT.md) devices, [Raspberry Pi](Raspberry%20Pi.md), smartphones and tablets.
